Are you living in a Virtuous Cycle or a Vicious Cycle?

Updated: Dec 26, 2022

You may be asking yourself...What does that even mean? Virtuous or Vicious?

It's actually quite simple. A vicious cycle is a pattern of stressful, unwanted events that you perform daily that do not bring you any joy or peace. Some call it "the grind."

The regular activities that make you aggravated, agitated, fatigued, sick, and #anxious. These may include working long hours, eating on the run, checking emails upon waking up, or getting insufficient sleep. You Vicious cycle can have you feeling burnt out, fed up, overweight, and bored. Heck, you may not even realize you are in a vicious cycle. Sometimes it takes me months to notice that I transitioned from a Virtuous cycle to a Vicious one, and it happens to the best of us.

So what is a Virtuous Cycle, you ask? This is a time or season in your life when everything seems to just make sense. You are feeling healthy, happy, calm, and at peace. You may be getting better sleep at night, you are setting goals, eating well, slowing down, being present, and are, overall, much less stressed.

A Virtuous cycle doesn't necessarily mean yoga and #meditation, although it can mean that. It can also mean enjoying wine on the patio, lifting weights with your bestie, or soaking the sun up at the beach. This cycle can involve some helpful self-care like journaling, prayer, or soaking in a tub.

Of course, I can dive so deep into this, but you and I both know that is it easy to lose yourself in the Vicious Cycles, and more challenging to create a Virtuous one, which I firmly believe is an individual and unique way of living.

The Vicious cycles can really drag you down, so become aware of what your current cycle looks like and whether or not you need some adjusting. It's completely worth it, YOU are #worthit.
